Skill Verification Programme
Overview
Skill Verification Program (SVP) aims to verify that Indian professional workers possess the required qualifications and skills to perform their professions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
Objective
- Leverage professional examinations to elevate workforce skills and drive excellence by enhancing the quality of labor market services.
- Forge stronger partnerships with the private sector to foster mutual growth while safeguarding the labor market by limiting the entry of unskilled workers.
Implementation
- The MOU between National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) & Takamol for Business Services (TAKAMOL) was signed in 2019.
- The pilot phase benchmarking 5 occupations commenced in 2023, where candidates undergo a competency-based exam (theoretical and practical) in their respective fields of specialisation at the accredited SVP testing centres in India.
- The successful completion of the pilot phase led to the formal rollout of the project, marked by the signing of the agreement on 15th May 2023.
- 41 testing centers have been successfully accredited under the program.
- 233 assessors are actively part of SVP across the centers.
- Over 82,000 candidates have been successfully registered under the program, and over 82,000 have been successfully assessed.
Overseas Skill Centres of Excellence
Overseas Skill Centres of Excellence to provide scalable, culturally aligned, and internationally benchmarked skill development ecosystem are proposed to be setup in Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC) countries. Such centres under a new Joint Venture (JV) will implement and integrate future skills initiatives aligned with economic modernization vision of the host countries.
